Welcome to the Programs Abroad Office!

The Programs Abroad Office is a UCSC student hub for study, intern, volunteer, teach and work abroad resources. Located in the International Education Office (IEO), 101 Classroom Unit Building, the office is open Monday - Friday from 9:00am - 12:00pm and 1:00pm - 4:00pm.

  • Alice Hancock

    Alice Hancock
    Director of Programs Abroad
    Africa and the Middle East

    Alice has worked in the field of international education for over ten years. In addition to managing the overall operations of UCSC Programs Abroad, she advises for programs in Africa and the Middle East. While receiving her B.A. in Anthropology and English from UC Santa Barbara, Alice studied abroad on UCEAP during her junior year at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. After graduating, she participated on the JET Program, teaching English in Japan for two years. She has travelled extensively around Asia, Europe and parts of Africa, totaling over 30 countries. In addition to travel, Alice enjoys hiking, backpacking, attempting to learn French, and any race or activity that involves running.

  • Sara Branley

    Sara Branley
    Programs Abroad Advisor
    UK/Ireland, Oceania, & Asia

    Sara is the Programs Abroad Advisor for UK/Ireland, Oceania, and Asia. Sara earned her B.A. in Sociology from UC Santa Barbara in 2004 and her M.Ed. in Postsecondary Administration and Student Affairs from USC in 2010. She first discovered her love of travel while studying abroad in Galway, Ireland. She later returned to work in Dublin after graduation. Since then, Sara has traveled to Europe, South America, and the Middle East. In her free time, Sara likes running, hiking, reading, and spending time with her husband, daughter, cockapoo, and tortoise.  

  • Christopher Hanson

    Christopher Hanson
    Programs Abroad Advisor
    Europe, The Americas, & Multi-Site Programs

    Christopher is the UCSC Programs Abroad Advisor for Europe, the Americas and Multi-Site programs. He is a California native who earned his B.A. in History, with a concentration in Europe, from UCSC. While attending UCSC, Christopher discovered his passion for international education while studying abroad through UCEAP at Lund University, Sweden. He began his career at the International Education Office as a Peer Advisor. Since then, Christopher has traveled extensively in North America and Europe. When he is not advising students on study abroad, you can find Christopher traveling or spending time outdoors with his dog Maximus.

  • Danielle Solick

    Danielle Solick
    IEO Office Manager

    Danielle is the Office Manager of the International Education Office and works with both Programs Abroad and International Scholar & Student Services. Danielle has more than eight years of experience working in the international education field, and her past travels have taken her to more than 30 countries on 4 continents, including studying in Spain, Ecuador, Italy and Thailand. Danielle holds two B.A. degrees from Sonoma State University, in Global Studies and Spanish, as well as an M.A. in International Policy Studies from the Monterey Institute of International Studies. Outside of the office, Danielle spends time working with rescued horses, enjoys being at the ocean, spending time with her dog, and listening to live music.
